In Thailand every weekday has its own planet, guardian animal and color. Only Wednesday is split into day and night, which makes eight in all.

Thai astrology starts from the weekday on the calendar. A Gregorian birthday is enough and the weekday is exact.
In the Thai count, someone born between 00:00 and 06:00 belongs to the previous day. Wednesday splits into day (06:00 to 18:00) and night (18:00 to 06:00 the next day), which gives eight stars.

Western astrology sorts people by birth month, while Thai astrology sorts by birth weekday — two different traditions with different names and different logic. Neither one is more "correct" than the other; think of this as one more window onto yourself.
