The Star That Connects the Story

A star that looks at asking what you’re curious about, saying what you think, and understanding each other through conversation.

Self-reflection content written by Horasat, based on the Thai birth-weekday tradition. It’s not a personality assessment or a prediction of the future, and everyone in the same category gets the same base reading.

01 · Read My Star

Good conversation means saying what you think and checking what they actually meant.

Through the theme of Mercury, look at your curiosity and how you talk with people. Read about how to dig into something you’re curious about, and how to say what you really think instead of brushing it off as a joke.

01 / 04

Pick One Thing You’re Curious About and Go Deep

Has a topic you had zero interest in ever gotten interesting after someone explained it to you? This piece looks at the experience of asking about something unfamiliar and actually listening to the explanation. A single question can introduce you to someone new, or to a possibility you hadn’t considered.

Having lots of interests isn’t the same as needing to keep up with all of them at once. If your open tabs and saved links only ever grow, pick just one question you actually want to know more about right now. Going deep on one topic makes it easier to actually understand than skimming a dozen articles.

Ask myself

Pick one thing you were curious about today and ask “why?” one more time.

02 / 04

Say What You Think Without Playing It Off as a Joke

A joke or a bit of wit that lightens an awkward moment is genuinely valuable. But if you wrap up something you actually care about in that same lightness, it can be hard for them to tell it actually matters. Add one sentence of what you actually think after the funny line.

If you’re often the one mediating a conflict, check whether you’re actually voicing your own opinion too. Understanding everyone doesn’t mean you have to agree with all of them. You can say both: “I get what you’re saying. My take is a little different.”

Ask myself

In a conversation today, hand over one sentence that carries your actual feeling, not just an explanation.

03 / 04

Actually Build the Idea That Came to Mind

Apply the Mercury lens to researching, connecting people’s opinions, and translating something complicated into plain language. Building an order the other person can actually follow may matter more than gathering as much scattered information as possible.

It’s easy to feel like just a bit more research would produce a better answer, and never actually stop. Separate your research time from your building time, and write a first draft with whatever you already have. The information you go looking for after you spot a real gap has a much clearer purpose.

Ask myself

Before you look for new material, write a three-sentence summary with what you already know.

04 / 04

Sort Out Your Own Thoughts Before Taking In More

Bouncing between group chats, recommended videos, and breaking news makes it easy to lose track of what you actually thought. The more you’ve taken in on a given day, the more it helps to ask what actually stuck with you, rather than what to look at next.

Deliberately leave yourself a little bit of boring time. Spend a few minutes of a commute without a screen, or sum up what you just heard in your own words. Time to digest what you’ve already taken in matters as much as time to take in something new.

Ask myself

Explain something you learned today to one person, without a screen in hand.

วันพุธ (กลางวัน)

Wednesday daytime: Mercury, the elephant, and a day of green

In Thailand, Wednesday (วันพุธ, wan Phut) is read as two halves, day and night. On this site, the hours from 6:00 a.m. up to 6:00 p.m. count as Wednesday daytime. The planet of the daytime is Mercury, its guardian animal is the elephant, and its color is green. On the taksa diagram Mercury sits in the south and is number 4. Mercury stands for speech and communication, so it is often talked about in connection with learning and conversation.

Wednesday daytime’s Buddha image is the posture of holding the alms bowl, Pang Um Bat (ปางอุ้มบาตร). It comes from the Buddha’s visit to his hometown of Kapilavastu, where he did not stay in the palace but walked the streets collecting alms. When his father, the king, asked in surprise why, he is said to have answered that this is the way of the awakened ones. With both hands cradling the bowl in a quiet pose, the image reads as one of humility and sharing.

Green is the easiest weekday color to wear in Thai daily life. On Wednesdays some people put on a green T-shirt or a green scarf, and some tuck in a green item on days that call for a lot of talking, like an exam or an interview. It is less a rule to keep than a small ritual for settling the mind.

The fact that Wednesday splits in two is tied to how Thai astrology treats Rahu as a body of its own, almost like a ninth element. Sources differ a little on where the line between day and night falls, and to keep the calculation simple and transparent this site fixes it at 06:00 and 18:00. Please read the Wednesday daytime star as a story that asks, “Shall I just ask about what I’m curious about?”

In the taksa, the planet of Wednesday daytime takes the first seat and the eight bodies are laid out in a fixed order. The chart for someone born on Wednesday daytime places Mercury in the seat of The People Around Me, Saturn in Life Force, Jupiter in Influence, Rahu in Fortune, Venus in Foundation, the Sun in Effort, the Moon in People Who Help You, and Mars in What to Watch Carefully. This layout is carried over from a published traditional table, and this site only reads the color of each planet from it. Please remember that astrologers interpret even the same table differently, and that no seat is fixed as good or bad.
