Here’s how we handle data differently for the free experience versus the paid report saved to your account.

01

Free input vs. your paid report

The birth date and time entered for your free result are calculated entirely in browser memory; we never store these inputs on a server, in a cookie, or in localStorage. It disappears the moment you leave the page or refresh. When you purchase a Star Atlas, we store the birth date, time, time zone, and city coordinates you entered, along with anything you write about your current situation and what you’d like to work through, and the generated report itself, on Horasat’s servers so we can build it and let you reopen it from your account. Please don’t include sensitive details like your name, contact information, or passwords in the situation field. If you leave Horasat, we delete this personal input along with your reports and reflection history, keeping only the minimum transaction records — product, amount, currency, and the payment provider’s order ID — needed for our records.

02

The star notebook on this device

When you tap Save this step, we store your birth category, the star you read, and the interest and action you chose, along with the time saved — up to the most recent 20 entries — in this browser’s localStorage. Any response you pick while reflecting on a step is stored in the same notebook. We don’t collect free-text answers to the questions. It never includes your birth date or birth time, and it’s never sent to a server or analytics tool. You can clear a single response or delete the whole notebook from My Star Notebook. It doesn’t sync across devices, and clearing your browser data deletes it. None of this is included in public links or cards.

03

When you share

A downloaded card includes only your birth category, never your birth date or birth time. Your name is omitted unless you enter it; if you do, it is drawn onto the image only on this device and is never sent in the link or to the server. If you pick scenes, only the sentences for the scenes you picked are added to the card. A public link shows that category along with the original line. A pair card holds both people’s categories. Expression pieces shared from Atlas include only the public expressions you chose yourself, never your birth details, report, or personal notes. Because a public link is shared by everyone in the same category, it cannot be deleted for just one person.

04

Measuring how the service is used

We send the event name, type of screen section, language you are viewing, referral category such as search or Instagram, ad or campaign source category, sharing method, public category name shown on result and sharing screens, and product code for purchase events. When payment is completed, the server records only the product code and whether the purchase was made as a guest or through an account; it records no order number or email address. The identifier is a temporary random value created each time you open a page. It is not stored in your browser or linked to an account. We do not collect the full URL, previous-page address, birth values, IP address, location, or screen recordings. Nothing is sent when Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control is enabled. This information is sent to PostHog, Inc. in the United States and kept for up to one year.

05

Notification subscription (optional)

Purpose: only if you turn it on yourself, we send you today’s color and a small suggestion each morning. Data: we store the push address and encryption keys issued by your browser, the language you were viewing and your device time zone (so we only send around 8 a.m. local time); none of it is linked to an account, a name or an IP address. Retention: until you turn notifications off or your browser invalidates the subscription, at which point it is deleted. Processors and cross-border handling: the server runs on Vercel and the data sits in a Supabase database. Notifications travel through your browser vendor’s push service (such as Google, Mozilla or Apple), which may process data outside Korea. How to stop: use the “Turn off” button on the Today’s Color page, or block notifications in your browser’s site settings. The days you checked today’s color are kept only in this browser’s localStorage (up to 60 days) and are never sent to the server.

06

Google AdSense

This site may load Google AdSense scripts to serve ads. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and process your IP address and device or browser information to serve and personalize ads, measure performance, and prevent fraud. Horasat never includes your exact birth date, birth time, or the text of your personal Atlas as a parameter in ad requests.

07

Account linking

Sign-in uses a shared authentication service. The server stores your shared member ID and your Horasat connection details, and your browser holds a random sign-in cookie. Sign-in attempts expire after 10 minutes, and a Horasat session never outlasts the central session. Expired records are removed during routine cleanup. We never pass your original birth details or any past personality-test results into account linking. Signing out of Horasat doesn’t end your sign-in to other services on the shared account.

08

Your last sign-in method

When you start signing in with Google or Kakao, we briefly save that one choice to this tab’s sessionStorage. It only helps you find the same option again if you cancel or don’t make it back — it never holds your account, birth date, or password. It’s cleared when sign-in completes, when you sign out, or when you leave Horasat, and it disappears if you close the tab.

09

Saving and deleting results

When you choose to save to your account, we briefly hold your birth category, whether a time was entered, the calculation and copy version, and your language in this tab so it can be loaded after you sign in. This temporary summary expires after 1 hour and never includes your raw birth date. Once you confirm with the save button, we link this summary and the save time to your account and store it on our server. You can delete a saved entry from your saved stars list. Public links to shared-category cards stay live. If your central account is deleted, access is blocked and saved entries are removed during routine cleanup.

10

Remembering that you signed out

We remember your sign-out choice in this browser with a cookie for up to a year, so we don’t automatically reconnect you. Signing in yourself clears this record. Clearing cookies or switching browsers means this choice won’t carry over.

11

Leaving Horasat

Confirming account deletion on the account page removes your saved entries and blocks Horasat access from every device. It doesn’t affect your use of other services or data on the shared account. To prevent other devices from automatically reconnecting, we keep your shared account ID and your Horasat usage and withdrawal status until the central account itself is deleted. Signing in again lets you start fresh, but deleted entries aren’t recoverable. Any connection details still pending withdrawal are removed once cleanup finishes or the connection expires.

12

External services

Requesting a card image sends your public category to the server — never your original birth details. We use Polar for Atlas payments. Polar handles the email, payment, and billing details you enter on its checkout screen; Horasat only passes along our internal order and payment-attempt numbers and your account-linking ID. We never send your birth details or report to Polar. In environments where Kakao sharing is set up, the share preview loads the Kakao SDK. Our hosting environment may keep access logs. We use Vercel for web hosting.

13

Situation answers and ratings for paid reports

To create your paid report (currently offered in Korean) and let you reopen it, we store your birth-weekday type, your rasi element if calculated on your device, and the answers you choose to situation questions with your order on Horasat’s servers. For an individual report, these are three answers chosen before payment; for the four-report bundle, they are three answers per topic confirmed after payment. There is no free-text input, and we do not store your original birth date. The ratings you choose at the end of a report (whether it helped and whether it felt like a story about you, each on a three-point scale) are linked to your order, kept for up to 400 days after the last change, and used only to improve quality. For orders saved to your account, leaving Horasat deletes your situation answers and ratings, keeping only the minimum transaction identifiers: product, amount, currency, payment provider’s order ID, and date and time. You can request deletion of a guest order by contacting us.

14

Guest purchases and the access cookie

If you buy a report without signing in, we store a randomly generated access key in the browser where you started the payment, as an HttpOnly cookie (SameSite=Lax, up to 400 days). The server keeps only a hash of that key and uses it to check which orders this browser may open. The key is never put in a URL, localStorage or analytics. If you clear the cookie, this browser loses access, and you can get it back through the emailed link. The only details sent for a report purchase are your birth category, the situation answers you choose and the computed rasi element; your birth date is not sent to our servers.

15

Access-link email

Purpose: to send a buyer who lost the access cookie a link to reopen the report. Data: the email address you enter is used only briefly, to look up purchases made with that address at the payment provider (Polar) and to send the link, and it is not stored in the Horasat database. To prevent abuse we keep only a keyed hash of the address and the request time for up to 24 hours, then delete them. The link can be used once within 24 hours, and the value behind it is stored only as a hash. Processor: we use Resend to send the email. These emails contain no advertising.

16

Order records

The order number, product, amount, the payment provider’s order number and the order and payment times are kept for 5 years as transaction records required by commerce law. The buyer’s name, email, payment method and billing details are held by Polar, which sells on our behalf as merchant of record; Horasat does not receive them. For purchases saved in an account, the inputs and report content are deleted when you withdraw from Horasat, and only the transaction record remains for the legal period.

17

My profile and my people on this device

When you save your profile and your people (friends), only computed values such as the birth category, rasi and animal sign are stored in this device’s localStorage; the birth date itself is not stored. Nothing is sent to our servers or analytics, and nothing is put in share links. You can delete items one by one, or everything, on the My profile and My people screens at any time, and clearing browser data removes them too. A friend who arrives through an invitation link is saved only after you accept.

18

Personalized notifications (optional)

If you turn on notifications and choose personalized ones, the birth weekday type (for example, Thursday-born) is stored together with your notification subscription. Only the weekday type is stored; it is not linked to a birth date, name or account. Turning notifications off deletes it along with the subscription.

19

Connect web and app records

Use your star, people, notebook and colors on the web and app with the same account. Selected records are stored on the server. Anonymous records remain on this device.
